Here’s an article reporting on some research into fidgeting/squirming and its relationship to working memory. An innovative teacher in our county recently found funds to supply her entire class with stability balls to use instead of chairs in their classroom. Her results confirm the results of the study. You can read about her class’s experience here. I’m hoping her creativity will inspire other teachers to move toward making classrooms much more friendly to the brains of the students who spend so much time in them!
